French classes prepare for Paris

For most students the end of the current 2016-2017 school year seems it is an eternity away.  For the students taking French, they are already marking their calendars for the end of the 2017-2018 school year.

In the summer of 2018, students in French II and up will have the opportunity to go to Paris and other areas of France for 10 days.  Students can thank Madame Skomra for the trip, as she has been planning it since last year.

The tour is run by Prométour, a company that does group tours in the US and Canada.  The dates for the trip are set for June 11, 2018 to June 20, 2018, a 10 day trip.

Students will travel from Pittsburgh to Paris on the first day of the trip.  Days two, three and four will be spent in Paris.  Day five’s activities will take place in Avignon.

Day six sees students traveling to Aix En Provence for the day.  On day seven students will travel to Nice and on the way stop in Cannes.  Also that day students will travel to Saint-Paul-De-Vence.

Day eight will be spent in Monaco, which is known as the location of the Grand Prix.  All of day nine is spent in Nice and the following day students will return to Pittsburgh.

Students in French II, French III and AP French will all have the opportunity to attend the trip.  Skomra is expecting 30 students to go on the trip.

Skomra said the trip will immerse the students in the French culture by using their skills they have learned.

“How to order stuff from a restaurant, how to have a simple conversation, kind of just immersing them in the language,” Skomra said.

For the students out there waiting to try the different foods of France students will be eating at restaurants every night.
