Usually, Marvel movies tend to excel at the box office due to the high expectations they have created with their blockbuster movies. The movie has already made 494 million dollars within the first couple weeks of its release. Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Derrickson, does not let your expectation down. It has many action scenes unlike any other Marvel movie that has been released to date.

The movie follows Doctor Stephen Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch. Doctor Strange who is a very successful neurosurgeon, loses his ability to properly use his hands after a serious accident. After regular medicine and treatments do not work, he turns to a mysterious enclave that shows him a whole new reality.

The cast for Doctor Strange, like most movies, has its ups and downs. Benedict Cumberbatch is the perfect person to play Strange he uses his past experience of playing Sherlock Holmes in the hit BBC show Sherlock to show Strange’s similar personality. Rachel McAdams, who is no stranger in Hollywood and has played a variety of many different roles, plays as Christine Palmer, a close friend and fellow surgeon.

Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays as Karl Mordo, is Strange’s mentor. Ejiofor is newer to Hollywood, but shows he has talent by playing a character who has a very complicated personality and a hard character to understand throughout the movie.

Tilda Swinton plays as the Ancient One. It is very hard to recognize her in this role. She is the most complex character through the whole movie. The Ancient One is also Strange’s mentor. She is a very secretive and mystical person. She is the one who is in charge of the enclave and everyone listens to her no matter what she says.

Doctor Strange creates it own world so perfectly that you almost forget that it is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You do not forget that it is a Marvel movie by the sly references made to the other movies and, of course, the infamous easter eggs in the movie.

The movie also has its witty humor moments like any Marvel movie would. The movie will make you question reality. The action scenes make you sit on the edge of your chair through the whole entire movie. The graphics during the movie seem so realistic that it makes you feel dizzy at certain times.

Doctor Strange is not the best Marvel movie ever created, but it is most definitely in the top five.
