School choir to perform holiday concert

The concert chorus, along with the orchestra, is hosting a holiday concert filled with recognizable songs Dec. 8.

This concert is from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door for three dollars.

The orchestra will perform a variety of songs by itself, then the concert chorus will come onto the stage to sing three songs with the orchestra’s accompaniment.

After the three combined numbers, the orchestra leaves and the chorus performs on its own.

Students in chorus and orchestra have participated in these type of concerts for many years throughout the various school years.

Sophomore chorus members Lindsey Gillmen, Austin Rhodes and Cassara Stanley have participated in this concert for at least four  years while sophomore Samantha Peterson will is in her third year.

The students that perform in this concert may have different opinions on what song is there favorite to perform.

“My favorite song that we sing is probably ‘Carol Of the Bells,’” Stanley said.

“‘Pat-a-pan’  would have to be my favorite to sing,” Gillmen said.

The songs are chosen by choral director Kelly Sipes.  Sipes chooses popular Christmas songs with four voice parts so that the audience knows what we are singing.

“I really like ‘Let It Snow’ because I think it is a fun song that a lot of people enjoy,” Rhodes said.

“‘Let It Snow’ is my favorite to sing,” Peterson said.
